Who are you?
Spritzr is a platform for dating using your social circle - providing a more 'real-world' approach to finding a partner. It allows friends to help each other find quality dates using their Facebook networks. Profiles are simple and geared towards meeting up offline. The end result is a quicker and more effective means to meet someone special.
Why Did you start your business?
I found the online dating experience to be terrible - it took up a lot of time and generally led to bad dates. My best dates came through friends - weddings, parties, introductions. This is how 70% of couples meet. Yet incredibly, there was no good way to meet friends of friends online. Spritzr is like going to a friends party - where everybody is connected in some way - versus going to a random bar, which is what traditional dating sites feel like.
What makes your business unique?
Spritzr takes a traditional activity - meeting dates through friends - and supercharges it using the power of the internet. Unique among dating sites, Spritzr allows collaboration among friends, helping their single friends find a partner.
What's the biggest mistake you've made with your business and what did you learn from it??
Keep it simple, stupid. Over-elaborating the product was the biggest mistake I made. I learned that by keeping it incredibly simple from the outset, it will grow to become only a slightly complex product.
what big goal do you have for your company and how do you plan to achieve it?
I'd like Spritzr to help change the way that people date online to something that's more comfortable, fun, and effective. This requires a relentless crafting of the product such that this new way of dating is easily understood to users, and they are left delighted.
what advice or tips do you have for people wanting to start their own business or follow their dreams?
If you are thinking about it, then you just have to do it. Life is too short not to follow your dreams. Think big, be genuine, and never, ever give up. That persistence will draw the right people to you - which is half the battle in achieving success.
