Who are you?
Compete Every Day® is a lifestyle brand that provides the fuel necessary to overcome life's adversities. It is streetwear inspired by sport. Sport wear inspired by Champions.
Why Did you start your business?
I had the desire to inspire a world filled with negativity and acceptance of "the status quo" with a positive message to pursue greatness. What started as a way to rebrand a marketing business morphed into an apparel line and using that channel to spread the message of Competing for one's life.
What makes your business unique?
We have a unique message applicable to anyone in any walk of life. The only requirement of CED is that someone must be ready to live above normal and pursue the things in life they desire.
What's the biggest mistake you've made with your business and what did you learn from it??
Worst mistake I've made in our 2.5 years with CED is investing too much inventory and finances into one event that I felt would "make us." The event flopped. The bright side of the situation is that it lit such a fire in us with a "back against the wall now" mentality it led us to a grind through Q4 that pulled the company back toward break-even instead of finishing deep in a financial hole.
what big goal do you have for your company and how do you plan to achieve it?
For 2014: $500,000+ in sales. For the next 5 years, grow into a multi-million dollar lifestyle brand that impacts individuals through apparel, media, and events.
Our focus is on continuing to tell our story while refining our production process for a better quality product and more diverse offerings. In addition, we are increasing our work to grow through select retail partners and online channels.
what advice or tips do you have for people wanting to start their own business or follow their dreams?
Go for it.
Seriously. Too many times I talk to friends who keep "waiting for the perfect time" when in all actuality, there is no such thing. Things will be difficult. The road will absolutely be hard. But man, is it worth it. Take the leap and you'll never look back with regret it.
