Who are you?
Business and Learning is equipping Entrepreneurs to grow exponentially and prosper abundantly in their businesses. Under the leadership of Business Coach and Implementation Strategist, Kelli Claypool.
Why Did you start your business?
I was tired of seeing folks struggling in business and not gaining much for the hours they were putting in. They would fall into the trap of buying the last est 6-figure promise and then get discouraged when it would fail or lack the results they were hoping for.
I wanted to take my 25 years of entrepreneurial experience and teach the basics, then grow from there. Im a firm believer that when you build your business on a solid foundation, you are creating a lifetime of wealth.
What makes your business unique?
I actually care for each client, customer, and member that associates with Business and Learning. It doesn't matter where they are on their entrepreneurial journey, my desire is to see them through to success.
What's the biggest mistake you've made with your business and what did you learn from it??
I’m a stickler for everything be scheduled. If it’s not on my calendar, then more than likely it will not get done or I will not show up. I am a self-proclaimed procrastinator, so everything must be added to my calendar, even private time with my family. I use Google Calendar so that all team members can see where I’m at and what I’m doing at any given time. I have specific times throughout each day that they can schedule an impromptu appointment if need be.
I’d love to give a few examples of how to utilize good time management to achieve the most out of your day. One way is to chunk together your tasks. If you are to be on the phone, then block out ample time to be on the phone for all your calls. That way you’re in the groove of making phone calls. If you’re needing to do some writing, block out a chunk of time to do all of your writing so that you can stay in your zone of writing. Too much energy is wasted when we jump from task to task as our brains are not wired that way. If you find yourself procrastinating, set a timer and challenge yourself to get the task done in the allotted amount of time.
Additionally, if you’re procrastinating about a task, write down three reasons why you feel you’re avoiding the task. Are you clear on it’s objective? Are you hesitant because you don’t fully understand how to perform the task, which may be better to outsource? Or is it a task that you can actually scrap because in the long run it won’t bring the results that you are looking for in the first place.
what big goal do you have for your company and how do you plan to achieve it?
I have such a heart for people and deep rooted desire to serve them. At this time, my big goal is to hold small one day workshops across the US that are affordable. We have a pre-planned agenda and then the rest is of the workshop is open for questions and specific mentoring.
I plan to achieve this by setting up the first one and then going for it. Even though this strategy goes against "guru" thinking, my ultimate goal is to see more and more folks successful in business and less struggling.
what advice or tips do you have for people wanting to start their own business or follow their dreams?
Just go for it! A lot of times, folks feel like they need to have everything perfect before starting and that will hold them back from starting.
Get out there. Share your brilliance to the world and change as you grow. You will find yourself tweaking as you move your business along, so go and grow and help people along the way. Money will come when you put your customers first!
One last thing, don’t be afraid to ask for help as there is no need for you to go about on your own. Many business owners have gone before you and are willing to assist you. Seek a coach or a mentor who will listen and understand your needs and desires. Then you will be well on your way to success. All successful people have others backing them, so find those people who will back you towards your greatness!
