Who are you?

Sole Protector is one of the latest sneaker products on the market. For those of you unfamiliar with the product, it is a clear film that uses 3M™ adhesive technology to protect your soles. This isn’t any plain old over the counter type film, but instead, it is a commercial grade, high quality proprietary film for SP. While the website has been live since April, the creators have been working for over a year on the product to help refine it and make it better the consumer. We are here to keep your kicks in tip top shape so that you can enjoy your passion for as long as possible.

Why Did you start your business?

Sole Protector was borne from a genuine desire to solve a problem that plagues ALL sneaker heads: How to preserve the flawless look and appeal of a priceless sneaker after one wear or multiple wears?

What makes your business unique?

Sole Protector prides itself on two distinct points. 1) Unlike other protection and restoration firms, Sole Protector was founded by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. As a result, we provide a level of customer service and customer interaction via our social media platforms that is unmatched in our business segment. 2) We actually provided a product that our customers wanted. We listened to customer feedback, we performed extensive testing and really pulled together a product that our customers could love and we could be proud of as enthusiasts and business owners. The business continues to adapt and grow as we refine our product offerings.

What's the biggest mistake you've made with your business and what did you learn from it??

We really underestimated what we had in our hands. We grew very rapidly and quickly learned that balancing cost, ROI and business relationships was integral to success. Many new business owners fantasize about an out pour of orders and hungry investors but we who have lived he "dream" can testify that there are indeed downsides. So in short, pay close attention, don't dwell on yesterday's success, get a good lawyer, invest in people, training, inventory, tools and equipment early and above all else, never forget to treat and run your business like a business. Additionally, be sure to choose a system or application that allows for scalability in a number of sectors of your company; order management, email blasts, shipping, etc.

what big goal do you have for your company and how do you plan to achieve it?

Our ultimate goal is to provide our solution to anyone and everyone who feels as we do. It's a big goal but we are up for the challenge.

what advice or tips do you have for people wanting to start their own business or follow their dreams?

It's not hype. Many businesses today simply do not require fancy facilities or expensive computers to get going. In reality, an iPad and some elbow grease can go a long way. So take a chance! Scope your idea, assign a budget and run your experiment. You may find that you have lost nothing and gained everything! Good luck!
