Who are you?

Why Did you start your business?

I started the business, part-time "on the side" while doing consulting work. It was through that consulting work that I discovered that entrepreneurs and small business owners needed help with hiring, but the existing staffing and recruiting models did not serve their needs in an affordable way.

What makes your business unique?

We specialize in working with small, fast-growing businesses and we understand the unique needs of the owners of these kinds of businesses. And from that knowledge we created a unique pricing model, that essentially charges for the time it takes us to do the tasks the business owner wants to outsource.

What's the biggest mistake you've made with your business and what did you learn from it??

The biggest mistake I made was not scaling soon enough. I had the silly notion that I couldn't train others to do what I was doing for business owners. Turns out I add the most value in the initial conversation with the entrepreneur, but after that I really can find awesome people who do a great job of screening, interviewing and scheduling. So just this last year I started adding others to my team, so that I can scale the business versus being just a solopreneur. I now have 3 Hiring Specialists working for me.

what big goal do you have for your company and how do you plan to achieve it?

I have a goal to create a more passive stream of revenue for my business. I plan to do this by creating value-packed free webinars and then offering a "Hiring University" type product which will consist of a series of video workshops where I teach business owners to create their own streamlined and effective hiring process - giving away many of my secrets!

what advice or tips do you have for people wanting to start their own business or follow their dreams?

1. Make sure you interview lots of your target market and make sure you are solving a real need or problem for them AND that they would pay the price you're asking for the solution. AND that you can actually make a profit at that price point. 2. Learn how to sell. Nothing happens until somebody sells something. It's nearly impossible to hire commission only sales people (I know, hiring is my business). So, you need to figure out what your sales funnel looks like. How will you get sales month after month, who are your referral/power partners, should you sell through other businesses/resellers? Solve this problem or your business will go nowhere. 3. Create a business that can eventually run without you. Something you can scale and replicate. Otherwise you aren't building a business you are just creating a job for yourself.
